That looked bad. You never want to see anybody get hurt especially guys who play the game clean and hard like Cally. Hopefully its not season ending

That was a tough one. I was furious with Talbot at first and screaming at him but after watching replays I realize it was probably a complete accident. Sucks to lose an important piece but hopefully the guys that were starting to step up will continue to do so in Cally's absence.

We always seem to take a pessimistic view on this board of injuries. We predict long absences but the player only misses a practice.

I bet Cally is ready to go Thursday night.

Really tough loss if he's out a significant amount of time. You love the passion he shows by answering the bell but that's a tough way to lose your leader. Hope he's back soon.

Yeah. Didnt seem to me talbot was at fault. As Jan pointed out, he was waving the rangers trainers over after cally went down. Seemed like a freak accident but could be something torn in the upper arm? Who knows, it sucks regardless.

Like McD last yr with the toe drag goal? I think Pete had his career over after they helped him off the ice & he ended up back in there the next game.

Hopefully this is similar but I don't have a good feeling on this one.

I def think Cally separated his shoulder. If I had to guess I think Cally is out 2-4 weeks but isn't out for the remainder of the season. Just my prognosis of what I think happened and the way he was hunched over holding his shoulder.

the way Callahan went off the ice last night reminded me of how Avery looked 4 years ago when Chris Neil nailed him and dislocated his shoulder.

I agree Jan, I think Cally is going to be gone for 4-6 weeks.

It's going to be devestating.

Carl Hagelin, the time is now, try and stay away from the "dumbness"

Chris Kreider has a real opportunity here as well.

you know it goes back to your point the other day, as much as we all love Cally, like he is one of our own brothers, committing long term big money to him when he plays the way he plays is a scary proposition.

Dumbness aside, Hagelin was great last night. So was Boyle, & Halpern.

Stepan, Hagelin and even Nash are snakebit with scoring goals.

All of them getting glorious opportunities.

It will start going in.

I think Hagelin and Boyle are great third line players. I watched Hagelin play for four years at Michigan, and quite frankly, I was a little shocked by the amount of offense that he provided when he first joined the Rangers. I think he will be a consistent 15-18 goal type player who can kill penalties, bring energy, and can move up and down the lineup occassionally, but I never saw a great offensive player with him. I feel much the same way about Boyle.

I mention this, because the problem I see with the Rangers right now is that they don't have a second line with Callahan out. Stepan, Hagelin and Pyatt is bottom-third NHL second line.

The depth issue really is a big deal, and if Callahan is out for a significant period of time, they really need to do something. The problem with that, however, is that by getting rid of some trade chips in the Nash trade, and by having to sign Hagelin, Stepan and McDonagh next summer, their options are pretty much limited to either picking up guys off the free agency scrap heat, or trying to find a team that will take a third rounder for a decent player on an expiring contract. Or put differently, many of the names that we will hear brought up in trade rumors, unless the Rangers decide to dip into their core, will have baggage (i.e., I don't like this guy because he's soft; I don't like this guy because he is injury prone; Or slow; Or washed-up).

I do think Zuccarello will be here eventually, probably end of March. Don't know how excited that makes everyone.

I liked your Weiss idea yesterday, but I think he will cost a first round pick, which the Rangers don't have, or a very good prospect, which the Rangers would be unwilling to give.

he is a rental and won't be re-signing there, I think he is getting traded pretty soon somewhere, but yeah, we don't have the assets

How many players would be willing to block a Chara slapper with their ankle, only to have it broken. Then he gets up and tries to block another shot on one leg. Give the man his money. Because without him I truely think this team would not have an identity. We are qustionin whether or not Prust leaving is having a impact, imgine us without Callahan.

Chris Drury used to be that player. He was a warrior that did somethings on the ice that were absolutely fearless. But, by playing that style, he was so worn out by his mid-30s, that he pretty much became useless on the ice. We all want to give Callahan his money, but you have to be concerned with giving one of the max 8 year deals. I would much prefer him at 4-5 years at his next contract.
